Sayanskhimplast sets membrane technology caustic soda production

Irkutsk region-based Sayanskhimplast company has been producing 4,000 metric tons of caustic soda and 3,200 metric tons of chlorine using membrane technology from the beginning of August.

As it was mentioned, mercury electrolysis unit was stopped in July,1.

As the company’s press-release says, facility has also been upgraded through the implementation of processing waste sulphuric acid unit, hydrogen-burning-based power station and water use closed cycle technology unit.

Production capacity of caustic soda and chlorine will increase by 50% what will decrease purchase of chlorine for polyvinyl chloride production.

Furthermore, Sayanskhimplast will advance annual capacity to 400,000 metric tons to provide raw material for its PVC production.

The whole value of construction and installation works was over 2,000 million rubles. The sum includes 40 million euros of Russian Federation Sberbank credit.
